Of course, these fats are unsaturated fats, which are more healthy. But this diet needs to be done with caution. Because carbohydrates are the first foods burned during fasting.

When following a low-carb diet such as keto, the body enters a state called “ketosis“.  At this stage, the body, which cannot find the carbohydrates during the first burning process to provide energy to the body, passes to the next food that can provide energy, namely fats. This diet, which is generally preferred for weight loss due to fat burning, was actually used to prevent seizures of epilepsy patients.

What is Keto and Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent fasting in keto is a diet that is created by combining ketone, that is, the ketogenic diet, with intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting, on the other hand, can be added to this diet to help alleviate the effects of ketone. Intermittent fasting is performed by not eating for a certain period of time and taking food at certain times.

The intermittent fasting and ketogenic diet list should be prepared by dietitians in accordance with your own health condition. Depending on whether you have any health problems, this list may change. However, you need to avoid certain foods completely on the keto IF diet.

Commonly consumed foods are:

  • Egg
  • Olive oil provides healthy and
  • Nuts
  • Red or white meat and fish
  • Spices
  • Cheese types
  • Low-carb vegetables and occasional fruit

Foods to be completely avoided include:

  • Any food containing sugar, including any sugary beverage
  • High-carb fruits
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Prepared foods labeled as sugar-free. These foods, although labeled as sugar-free, are foods to avoid on the keto diet because they are processed.
  • High-carbohydrate foods such as pasta, rice, bulgur
  • Ready-made sauces containing sugar and unhealthy fats
  • Legumes containing carbohydrates
  • Carbohydrate-rich vegetables like potatoes

Consumption of the foods on this list will cause the body to continue burning carbohydrates, so the body will not enter the state of ketosis and fat burning will not occur.

What is the Keto IF Diet?

What is the keto IF diet? The keto IF diet is short for “intermittent fasting” in English. The IF diet, translated as “intermittent fasting” in Turkish, is often used together with the ketogenic diet.

Some of these benefits are:

  • It is very useful for diabetes type 2 patients. It causes improvements in insulin level.
  • When administered to patients with epilepsy, a reduction in epileptic crises has been observed.
  • When administered to Alzheimer’s patients, it has been observed that the effects of Alzheimer’s are reduced.
  • It has been found that when applied to women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, it prevents the increase in the rising insulin level due to POS, as well as the increase in acne and acne.
  • It has been observed that the symptoms of Parkinson’s patients are alleviated.
  • There are also small-scale studies conducted to increase the healing rate of wounds.

Intermittent fasting allows the keto diet to show its effects more quickly. That’s why these two diets are often used together. It has many benefits when done under the supervision of a physician.
